The Rudi Martinus van Dijk Foundation

In the search for truth and authenticity, music should mirror who we are and what we can be.

Composers and conductors are the leaders of the music world. Inspired by the compassion and work of composer Rudi Martinus van Dijk, we formed this foundation in his name. Our fundraising charitable music organisation helps aspiring composers and conductors who live in parts of the world where there is political strife or economic deprivation. Through sponsorship, scholarships and workshops, we bring about social change by giving young people opportunities to develop their talents.

Highest recommendation : read the powerful and poignant “UPBEAT : The story of the National Youth Orchestra of Iraq” by Paul MacAlindin, Conductor of the NYOIraq from 2009-2014. Paul has created a memorable case history of the young Iraqi musicians who give hope to all of us in the throes of war, brutality and change.

Foreword by Sir Peter Maxwell Davies, published by SandstoneonePress, Scotland ISBN : 978-1-910985-09-0.
